Wedding Blessings

  • Ken and Mary Kitson

  • Our spotlight is on the late Ken and Mary Kitson, who were married January 12, 1946. The photo at left was found in the parish archives by Jeff Monahan. The Kitsons were long-time members of St. Elizabeth, raising five children here. Mary died Jan. 27, 2017 at the age of 93, while Ken passed away Dec. 28, 2017. He was a veteran of World War II, serving as a Navy Seabee and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. 

  • Bill and Renee Collins

  • Bill and Renee Collins celebrated their Catholic wedding ceremony October 8, 2012 at St. Elizabeth with Father Dan officiating. The groom's daughter, Lisa Watterson, was matron of honor and the groom's son, Jeff, was the best man. The couple's three granddaughters, Lauren and Paige Watterson and Alyssa Collins, served as bridesmaids. Renee's brothers, Richard Lapham and John Lapham, stood in for her father, the late Herb Lapham, and gave their sister away in marriage.

  • Nancy and Richard Schlanderer

  • We are celebrating Nancy and Richard Schlanderer, who were wed July 29, 1972 at St. John's Catholic Church in Monroe. Nancy's sister, Marjorie Hess, was her maid of honor while Robert Farquharson was best man. The Rev. Arthur A. Lowry was the celebrant at the wedding ceremony. This summer will mark the couple's 50th anniversary.

  • Ginger and Greg Pozcatek

  • Ginger and Greg Pozcatek were married  January 15, 1966 at the Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in San Francisco, Ginger's home parish. Ginger and Greg, who grew up in Chicago, met when Greg was in the Marine Corps and living in the same apartment building. The photo was taken in 2016 when they marked their golden wedding anniversary by traveling to their favorite resort, Napilli Kai on the island of Maui, Hawaii.

  • Bob and Mary Bowers

  • Bob and Mary Bowers, pictured at left,  were married November 18, 1950 at the old St. Elizabeth Church, "the Little Stone Church," now the Tecumseh Historical Museum. They enjoyed 71 years together before Bob's passing on Dec. 16, 2021.
