Christ calls us to care for our neighbors. Furthering social justice and living out Works of Mercy are cornerstones of our Catholic Christian faith. In our journey as disciples, we serve the community around us in a variety of ways. We have worked with the Tecumseh Service Club to prepare Christmas boxes, with Habitat for Humanity to restore homes and clean-up inventory, with the Salvation Army Share the Warmth homeless shelter in Adrian, and with the Catherine Cobb domestic violence shelter among many other organizations.
One of our favorite ministries to volunteer with is PBJ Outreach, Inc. Since the fall of 2002, this group has been in an impoverished part of Detroit every single Saturday morning to distribute food. In addition, they started distributing clothing on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month - the portion of the ministry that we help with. After setting up tables and laying out the clothing, we are able to offer our brothers and sisters not just clothing, but a smile and conversation. After a week of being avoided by most of the public, we help restore the dignity they deserve as children of Christ.
We collect gently used clothing year-round for PBJ Outreach, Inc. Donations can be dropped off inside the Parish Center. Click here to see the list of acceptable PBJ donations.
