"Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil. He fasted for forty days and forty nights, and afterwards he was hungry. The tempter approached and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command that these stones become loaves of bread.” He said in reply, “It is written: ‘One does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes forth from the mouth of God.’” Then the devil took him to the holy city, and made him stand on the parapet of the temple, and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down. For it is written: ‘He will command his angels concerning you’ and ‘with their hands they will support you, lest you dash your foot against a stone.’” Jesus answered him, “Again it is written, ‘You shall not put the Lord, your God, to the test.’” Then the devil took him up to a very high mountain, and showed him all the kingdoms of the world in their magnificence, and he said to him, “All these I shall give to you, if you will prostrate yourself and worship me.” At this, Jesus said to him, “Get away, Satan! It is written: ‘The Lord, your God, shall you worship and him alone shall you serve.’” Then the devil left him and, behold, angels came and ministered to him. The Beginning of the Galilean Ministry. - Matthew 4:1-11

O Good Shepherd, you never cease to
seek out the lost, to call home the stray,
to comfort the frightened, and to bind up
the wounded. I ask you to bring my loved one
back to the practice of the Faith,
and to remove all obstacles that prevent
them from receiving your abundant mercy,
which flows sacramentally through
the heart of your holy Church.
Through the intercession of Mary,
the Mother of God, their Guardian Angels,
their Patron Saints and the ever-prayerful
St. Monica, may you pardon their sins
and unshackle them from whatever
hinders their freedom to come Home.
For you, O Good Shepherd, have loved us
to the end and offered yourself to the
Father for the salvation of all.
Amen.

This year during Lent, St. Elizabeth will be hosting "The Rescue Project" in conjunction with our Lenten Soup & Bread Suppers. This program, created by Fr. John Riccardo, offers a way to powerfully proclaim the Gospel message through small group discussions, video presentations, and shared meals. It presents a deep dive into the story of Jesus' rescue of humanity and inspires individuals to share this message with others. It is often described as an experience of the Gospel centred around community and conversation. The Lenten Suppers & the Rescue Project began on Thursday, March 6, at 6:00 PM, and is continuing on the following six Wednesday evenings, concluding during Holy Week on April 16. Each evening will begin with a Soup & Bread supper provided by St. Elizabeth, followed by a short video and table discussions. We hope to have you join us for this amazing program and fellowship.
