Catholics believe that there is always more to learn about our faith and that being a practicing Catholic requires regular conversion. Faith Formation (also known as CCD or Catechism) is one of the ways we seek the Lord and work to grow in our faith. Faith Formation consists of formalized educational programs tailored to Catholics of a certain age group or with similar backgrounds.
Catholic education truly begins at home in family life. In preschool, young Catholics begin attending Faith Formation classes. This continues through elementary school, where youth make their First Reconciliation and First Communion. In middle school, students continue to build upon their faith foundations. In high school, students prepare for Confirmation, the final Sacrament of Initiation.
The faith journey does not end in high school. We encourage adults to be constantly learning about their faith and the Church and deepening their relationship with Jesus Christ. Our Bible Study classes provide an opportunity to study the Word of God and the history of the Church, showing us why we believe what we believe and why we do what we do.
We even have programs for adults who are not Catholic. Our Order of Christian Initiation (OCIA) program is designed for adults interested in beginning their faith journey.
Don't know where to begin?
That's ok! Navigating the Church can be confusing and overwhelming, but we all start somewhere. The St. Elizabeth/St. Dominic parish family is here to help guide you. Your first step is to call Heather Marsh, the Director of Faith Formation.
