Baptism is the first Sacrament of Christian initiation. "The Sacraments of Christian initiation—Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist—lay the foundations of every Christian life" (CCC 1212).
"Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit..., and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through baptism, we are freed from sin and reborn as sons [and daughters] of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission: "Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water and in the word." (CCC 1213).
Traditionally, Baptisms immediately follow the 10:30 AM Mass at St. Elizabeth Church. Families must be registered members of St. Elizabeth Parish to schedule a Baptism. Additionally, if this is your first child, you should attend a Baptism Preparation Class. Please contact Deacon David Hammer at (734) 755-8461 or Stacey Knepper in the Parish Office at (517) 423-2447 for more details.
To have your child baptized at St. Elizabeth Parish, please follow these steps:
1) Contact Stacey Knepper in the Parish Office
2) Fill out the Baptismal Registration Form (given to you) and return it to the Parish Office
3) Attend a baptismal class. Classes will soon be offered online using Dynamic Catholic's Starting Point as the curriculum.
If you are an adult seeking to be baptized, you will need to complete the Rite of Christian Initiation (RCIA) program.
Contact Heather Marsh for information on how to begin this process.
